iPhone 5s Reviews: What the Critics Are Saying | Best iPhone 4 Case

The-Critics’-Verdict

Nine million in three days. That’s how fast the iPhone 5s (along with the iPhone 5c, its cheaper sibling) sold out last month in roughly a dozen countries—Australia, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United States—to make the record as the largest iPhone launch in Apple’s history, according to a report by the Agence France-Presse.

The same report states that the company is set to release these new handsets into 51 more markets—including Russia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand—by November 1.

Apple had been struggling to regain market share from Google’s Android operating system recently, and this favorable event might just be what the Tim Cook-led company needs. The question is: Is it time for you to ditch your best iPhone 4 case, get caught up in the hype, and buy the iPhone 5s right now?

The answer: It depends on how much of a techie you are.

What’s so great about the iPhone 5s?

The iPhone 5s’ most notable features are its increased speed and the Touch ID fingerprint reader. Its 64-bit A7 processor allows it to perform faster than the iPhone 5, although its RAM is only 1 GB. Meanwhile, the Touch ID feature uses your fingerprint to unlock your device, purchase apps online, and engage in other personal transactions. If developed further, this technology has the potential to replace passwords as security features, not to mention re-establish Apple’s former status as a smartphone market leader.

Apart from that, critics agree that the iPhone 5s is basically the iPhone 5 with some incremental features slapped onto it. Whereas the iPhone 5 was available in only two colors (black/slate and white/silver), the iPhone 5s is now available in three: white/silver, space gray and gold. The latter also seems to have an improved battery life and camera features.

The iPhone 5s may be a precedent for things to come, though. Who knows if Apple will incorporate the 64-bit processor and Touch ID feature in its newest iPads to be unveiled on October 22?

If you’re not willing to replace your best iPhone 4 case, it may be wise to wait until the iPhone 6 comes out. On the other hand, those who have the old iPhone 5 may want to give its S cousin a try.
